Photos
help sell trailers! Whenever
possible, listing sellers are encouraged to accompany their new or modified
listing information with good quality photos of their trailers.
Prospective buyers invariably ask for photos before anything else to help
them sort through possible choices. By
having the photos posted from the beginning, you can save yourself and the buyer
unnecessary time and effort later. In
addition, good photos make a favorable impression on buyers and can provide a
powerful incentive to help them overcome any other resistance they may have to
inquire further.
Tips
on taking the photos - As a general rule, it is appropriate to
show 3 basic views: ¾
front/side; ¾ rear/other side; and an interior from the rear.
For clarity and honesty, you should resist the temptation of
photographing the best or only good trailer in the group and, instead, select a
trailer that you feel is representative of the average condition of all of the
units.
If possible, pull the trailer to be photographed out and away from the others in the lot. To keep it well lit, position the trailer so that the sun is behind you when you shoot. Try to fill the frame of your view finder completely, but make sure to get the entire trailer in if possible.
If there are important and unique
identifying features on the trailers (eg, pintlehooks, lift gates, etc.) you may
wish to also shoot “detail” shots of these features.
When looking at trailers on a preliminary basis, however, buyers
generally do not care about detail shots of tires and brakes, patch repairs,
etc. For listing purposes it is best
to concentrate on making the 3 more general shots of higher quality.
What
about decals? It is best
to submit photos of your trailers with or without decals as you intend to convey
the trailers upon sale. If your sale
trailers still have previous owner decals installed, but you are selling them
“de-identified”, you can still submit photos with your
listing form. WillGo has the ability
to “de-identify” decals electronically to simulate the trailer as it may
look upon sale. When posting your
listings, we will try to watch for discrepancies between “de-identified” in
the data form and decals on the photos, but you can help eliminate confusion by
providing an explanation in the “Comments” section of the form.
Saving
photos on your computer - If you don’t already have a system for
storing photos on your computer, we suggest that you begin by setting up a
directory on your hard drive exclusively for photos.
(In Windows, you may already have a file provided by Microsoft called
“My Pictures” under “My Documents”, if you want to use it.)
When you save images in your selected file, we suggest that you name each
image using a naming format that will make it easier to find these photos again
in the future. This may include the
current date, a summary description of the trailer, the model year, and/or any
other identifying characteristics that are meaningful to you.
You may want to differentiate different shots of a given trailer by
adding “1”, “2”, “3”, etc to the end of your new name.
Once the images are saved on your hard drive, you are ready to find and
select them for attachment to the WillGo “Trailer Listing Form”.
If you need any additional help with this process, feel free to call us
for assistance.
Attaching
your photos to WillGo’s new “Sale Trailer Listing Form” –
Our newly revised and updated listing form allows sellers to attach up to
3 computer photo images to the submission form.
At the bottom of the new “Sale Trailer Listing Form” under the
heading “Attachments”, you will find 3 fields for 3 separate images. Each
field has a “Browse” button which opens a “File Upload” window to let
you search your computer drives for the desired images.
Once you locate the image you want to attach, you can either double click
that file name or click it once and then select “Open” in the lower right
corner of the “File Upload” window.
We recommend that you attach images as .jpg
files but we will accept any format most convenient to you.
The only images we cannot modify for use are those imbedded in a .doc
file (eg, a Word document). If you
chose to send us additional specs as a .doc text file (see below) with photos
imbedded, that is OK, but we will still need .jgp images separately attached if
you want them posted on-line with your listing.
Attaching
text files to WillGo’s new “Sale Trailer Listing Form” – If
you have factory line spec sheets, sales flyers, or other text documents that
would help us to better understand and sell your trailers, we have provided a
separate data field at the bottom of the “Sale Trailer Listing Form” under
the heading “Attachments” entitled “Spec File”.
To attach your .doc file, click the “Browse” button to open the
“File Upload” window. Locate the
file you wish to attach on your computer and either double click that file name
or click it once and then select “Open” in the lower right corner of the
“File Upload” window.
Submitting
your listing with photos or text attached – To submit your new
or modified listing with photos and/or text files attached, simply click
“Submit” at the bottom of the “Sale Trailer Listing Form”.
The alternative “Reset” button will clear all the fields on the form
except for contact information entered by the “AutoRec” option.
Please keep in mind that all on-line submissions to WillGo take about one business day to process and be seen live at our website. WillGo reviews all submissions manually before posting them in order to maintain the highest level of quality in our database. Meanwhile, we recommend that you print and keep a copy of the confirmation you receive immediately after hitting “Submit”.
